The northern lights, or the aurora borealis, are beautiful dancing waves of light that have captivated people for millennia. But for all its beauty, this spectacular light show is a rather violent event. Energized particles from the sun slam into Earth’s upper atmosphere at speeds of up to 45 million mph (72 million kph), but our planet’s magnetic field protects us from the onslaught. NASA is also on the hunt for clues about how the northern lights work. In 2018, the space agency launched the Parker Solar Probe, which is currently orbiting the sun and will eventually get close enough to “touch” the corona. While there, the spacecraft will collect information that could reveal more about the northern lights.

This photo was captured by Christina Adele in April, 2021 during one of several specatular displays in Northern Montana last summer. The lights reflecting off of a calm Lake McDonald at Glacier National Park created this stunning photo, and we felt it just had to become a puzzle! We hope you agree!

All of our 1000 Piece puzzles measure 27.6 x 19.7 inches when completed. They are cut with an irregular piece shape to aid and strenthen your assembly quest, as well as produce an interlock so tight you can pick it up and flip it over (gently) without losing a piece. While I always try to release some easier, more colorful prints for the novice puzzler, I have customers that want a real challenge that will take even the most seasoned puzzler months to assemble! Our product does not contain copious amounts of dust from manufacturing like other puzzles do, our process rarely leaves behind a single speck. Each box comes with a reference poster to aid in assembly, and the pieces are sealed in a plastic bag. Orders ship USPS Priority Mail the day they are received, if before 5 pm MST .
